Cell Phones
Statistics show that the average American family has at least three cell phones in their home that are no longer being used. And when you begin to count the number of phones in your own home, and how often you upgrade or add users as your children grow, it's not so hard to believe. Just think if all the families in your organization donated their phones—that can add up to a sizeable check.
Dial up the donations
When cell phones are donated, iDonate ships them to a refurbishing vendor, where their memories are erased of all data pertaining to the previous user. They're then recycled or refurbished. Your Nonprofit will typically get several dollars per phone.
Though cell phones don't generally sell for a high price on a per-unit basis, collectively they make a lucrative fund-raising campaign. It adds up quickly: Three phones per home. Hundreds or even thousands of homes in your area. It's easy to see how you could generate several thousand dollars from a campaign. And when you think about corporations that provide cell phones to their employees, the potential grows even higher. Because those companies will periodically replace those phones with new ones.
From youth groups to corporate donations, we have a campaign for every need
The key to success is a cell phone collection campaign. iDonate can help you with one of three different types:
- Box Campaign: Nonprofits find a champion to collect phones from family, friends, co-workers, etc. This type of campaign is perfect for youth groups looking to fund camps, help food pantries or other worthy projects. The process is simple:
- Mailing Campaign: Primarily an effort toward the Nonprofit's current donors and database list, a Cell Phone Mailing Campaign is an excellent way to involve a variety of donors. It allows those donors who would love to get involved, but are without extra cash resources, to give by donating retired phones they have in their homes. By introducing these incremental donors to noncash giving, this effort opens the door to future donations.
- Kiosk Campaigns: Similar to a Box Campaign, the Kiosk Campaign is designed specifically for corporate or storefront settings or church displays. Nonprofits are given the opportunity to design portions of the marketing that will be printed on their kiosk. Note that the Kiosk Campaign has at least an 8-week lead time in order for the boxes to be designed.
**If you choose this campaign, please note that box campaigns will only be accepted in the CGS system with a minimum of 25 phones donated.
