Midwest Food Bank: Amplifying Donor Growth with Non-Cash Giving

What started as a community food drive from a family farm in Illinois turned into a global effort to help end world hunger.

Need

Since 2003, Midwest Food Bank has grown to be one of the largest food banks in the United States. They rely on the help and gratitude of their volunteers nationwide to alleviate food insecurity and hunger across the U.S. and around the world. As Midwest Food Bank continued to grow in size and scope, added to the rise in digital giving, donations beyond traditional monetary gifts became increasingly popular.

Before partnering with iDonate, Midwest Food Bank did not have a mechanism to process any noncash donations like stocks, estates, or vehicles. They needed an easy way to not only handle these gifts but an efficient form that could be used across all their locations.

Solution and Results

Midwest Food Bank turned to iDonate and the resources they provided for noncash donations. Inside iDonate’s online giving form, users can easily input the information needed for any noncash gift. iDonate then takes ownership of the item, sells it on behalf of the organization, and sends them the proceeds.

Using iDonate’s platform and services left Midwest Food Bank the ability to put all donations directly into their mission without the worry of what to do next. iDonate was able to help them simplify their digital fundraising, giving them peace of mind and time back on their calendars to focus on their powerful mission - ending world hunger.

“I would say of all the third-party vendors we work with on the technology side, without a doubt iDonate is the easiest to partner with.” - JADA HOERR, Chief Resource Officer
