Configuring Domain Masking

Customizing Hosted Page URLs.

By default, Hosted Pages use a platform provided URL in the following format:

Domain masking allows you to replace this with a branded URL that matches your organization’s domain, such as:

This helps create a more seamless and trustworthy donor experience by keeping your organization’s branding visible throughout the donation process.

Configure You Domain

Begin by contacting your domain registrar or DNS provider to configure a CNAME record. While the exact steps may vary by provider, the required settings are typically as follows:

  1. Type: This value should be set to CNAME.
  2. Name: The subdomain you want to use, such as give.
    1. Example: give.your-organization.org
  3. Value: This value will always be gift-cname.idonate.com.
  4. TTL:  Set to the lowest available value so the new URL becomes active sooner.

Contact iDonate Support

After the CNAME record has been added, create and publish the Hosted Page you want to mask. Then collect the following information:

  • The branded domain you want to use (e.g. https://give.your-organization.org).
  • Original Hosted Page URL.
  • CNAME name you configured.

Submit this information using the support request form and include a subject such as Domain Masking for {Your Organization Name}.

Verifying the Change

Once domain masking is complete, your branded URL will be visible to donors. DNS changes can take time to propagate, depending on your registrar and TTL settings.
