How do I reconnect my legacy Salesforce integration?

Use these steps to reauthorize iDonate's legacy Salesforce integration so new gifts sync to Salesforce again.

Use these steps to reauthorize iDonate's legacy Salesforce integration so new gifts sync to Salesforce again.

This article is for organizations on iDonate's legacy Salesforce integration, which appears in iDonate as Salesforce 2 Configuration. If you already use the Salesforce NPSP integration, or want to plan a move to it, see Setting Up Salesforce NPSP.

Before you start

  • Sign in to iDonate with a user that has the Admin role.
  • Have the Salesforce login ready for the admin or integration user iDonate should connect as. iDonate connects to Salesforce as whichever user logs in during these steps.
  • Connect your production Salesforce org. This button can't connect to a Salesforce sandbox.

Reconnect Salesforce

  1. Open a private (incognito) browser window, so Salesforce asks you to log in fresh instead of using a session that's already open.
  2. Sign in to iDonate and open your organization settings page.
  3. Click the CRM Integrations tab.
  4. In the Salesforce 2 Configuration section, click Set up Salesforce Connection.
  5. In the Salesforce tab that opens, log in as the admin or integration user iDonate should connect as.
  6. Click Allow to approve the connection.
  7. When the tab shows "Salesforce Connect setup complete. This window should close now.", close it and return to iDonate.
  8. Check that the Salesforce 2 Configuration section now shows a green message saying your Salesforce settings have been configured. If it hasn't changed, refresh the page.

After you reconnect

New gifts sync to Salesforce automatically. Contact iDonate support after you reconnect so our team can confirm that gifts made while the connection was down reached Salesforce.

Troubleshooting

I don't see the CRM Integrations tab or the Salesforce 2 Configuration section. This section only appears for users with the Admin role. Ask an Admin at your organization to complete these steps.

The Set up Salesforce Connection button isn't there. The button only appears when the connection isn't set up. If the section already says your settings are configured and gifts still aren't reaching Salesforce, contact support.

Salesforce shows an error after I click Allow. Refresh the iDonate settings page and click Set up Salesforce Connection once more. If the error comes back, send a screenshot of it to support.
