Managing Peer-to-Peer Programs
How to set up and configure a Peer-to-Peer fundraising program.
Your supporters are often your strongest advocates. Peer-to-Peer (P2P) fundraising empowers them to become active fundraising partners, helping expand awareness, reach new donors, and generate greater impact through their personal networks.
Purpose built tools give advocates the ability to create and manage their own fundraising pages, track progress, thank supporters, communicate with your organization, and make updates as their campaign evolves. This creates a scalable fundraising model that remains personal and authentic.
Reminder: Fundraiser refers to an individual raising funds. The overall fundraising effort is referred to as the program.
Details
The first step is defining the foundational information for your P2P program.
Program Information
Enter the program name, URL, associated campaign, and designation. The designation determines where donations are allocated. Optionally, you may lock the designation to ensure all donations apply to a single fund.
When a designation is locked, donors will not see designation options, and all contributions will be directed to the selected designation.
Date and Time
By default, only a start date is required. You may also enable an end date, select a timezone, and display a countdown showing the remaining days of the program on the main program page.
Program Description
Provide a description that explains the purpose of the program. Alternatively, you may choose to inherit the description from the parent campaign.
Fundraising Goals (optional)
Set an overall fundraising goal for the program, as well as optional individual fundraising goals for participants.
Teams (optional)
Enable teams to allow participants to collaborate or compete. Team fundraising goals can also be configured if teams are enabled.
Design
The Design section controls the visual presentation of the program page.
Logo
Upload your organization’s logo to appear on the program page.
Poster Media
Upload a featured image or video that serves as the primary visual element for donors visiting the program page.
Brand Colors
Define primary, secondary, and button colors using either a color picker or hexadecimal values.
Top Fundraisers
Enable a leaderboard to highlight top performing fundraisers within the program.
Payment Embeds
Payment settings determine how donors can contribute to the program.
Payment Methods
Choose which payment types are accepted.
Donation Frequency
Enable recurring donations and configure how start dates are displayed for recurring gifts.
Anonymous Donations (optional)
Allow donors to select their level of anonymity when giving
- Show my name publicly: Display the donor's name on the fundraiser's page.
- Show my name to this fundraiser only: Hide the donor’s name from the public fundraiser page while showing it to the fundraiser in notifications.
- Hide my name from everyone: Do not display the donor’s name on the fundraiser’s page or include it in fundraiser notification emails.
Suggested Donation Amounts (optional)
Set predefined donation amounts for donors to select from, with the option to include a custom amount field. One suggested amount may be set as the default.
Donor Pays Fees
Enable the option for donors to cover processing fees and customize the accompanying call-to-action message. This option can be set as default and applied across all fundraiser pages within the program.
Donate to Program (optional)
Allow donors to give directly to the program rather than to an individual fundraiser.
Program Participants
This section controls the default appearance and options for individual fundraiser and team pages.
Default Fundraiser Page Content
Upload default header or poster media, assign a default profile image, and define a standard About the Fundraiser description.
Fundraiser Options
Choose whether fundraisers may customize their goal amount, page description, and page imagery.
Team Page Content
If teams are enabled, team pages can be customized using the same options as individual fundraiser pages.
Communication & Sharing
Consistent communication plays a critical role in fundraising success.
Automated Emails
Configure and customize automated emails sent to fundraisers based on activity and milestones. Emails can be enabled or disabled, and subject lines and content edited as needed.
Hub Messages (optional)
Display a custom message at the top of the fundraiser dashboard to provide guidance or encouragement.
Sponsors
Sponsorship tiers can be used to encourage larger contributions and recognize supporters.
Define sponsorship levels and associated contribution amounts. For each tier, you may display sponsor names, logos, and website links on program pages. Tier thresholds are determined by the organization and are not stored as individual data fields within the P2P system.
